Since 2007, the Bethlehem United Shelter (BUS) has stood as a beacon of hope for individuals and families in need across Toronto. This collaborative effort between the Bethlehem United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) and the City of Toronto has provided refuge to marginalized individuals. It continues to be a vital resource in the community.
Operated by Fred Victor, the shelter remains unique in its service as the only pet-friendly shelter in Toronto, accommodating up to 70 individuals, including pets (e.g., dogs, and cats). This inclusive approach ensures that residents are not forced to choose between their safety and the welfare of their pets, allowing them to heal and rebuild together. This initiative highlights the shelter’s unwavering commitment to the holistic care of individuals, fostering dignity and respect for all.
