Communication Department

Ensuring Effectiveness and Efficiency

The Communication Department at Bethlehem United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic plays a critical role in ensuring that both internal and external communications are handled effectively and efficiently. This department serves as the central hub for managing all communications related to the church’s ministry, programs, outreach, and collaborations with other churches and external organizations. A well-organized communication system ensures that messages are clear, timely, and consistent across various channels, helping the church to foster strong relationships, both within the congregation and with the larger community.

Key Objectives of the Communication Department

Core Responsibilities of the Communication Department

1

Internal Communication:

  • Church Bulletins and Newsletters: Regularly create and distribute newsletters and bulletins to keep the congregation informed of upcoming services, events, and church announcements. This may include monthly, weekly, or special edition newsletters.
  • Digital Displays: Maintain information on physical and digital church bulletin boards, ensuring that it is current and accurate. Display announcements, upcoming events, and key messages that must reach the congregation.
  • Communication with Ministry Leaders: Facilitate regular communication with ministry leaders to stay informed about church activities and initiatives. Ensure that ministry leaders have the necessary information for their teams and congregants.
  • Email Communication: Maintain an email list for regular communication with the church community. This includes sending out event reminders, prayer requests, updates, and special announcements.

  • Outside Churches: Maintain strong communication with local, regional, and national churches to coordinate joint activities, special services, and initiatives. The Communication Department acts as the primary liaison between the church and other church communication departments, ensuring that information is exchanged in a timely and effective manner.

Use all available communication channels, including email, social media, flyers, and the church website, to ensure maximum visibility and participation.

4

Media Relations and Publicity:

  • Press Releases: Draft and distribute press releases to local media outlets for significant events or milestones in the church, such as outreach initiatives, anniversaries, special programs, or the introduction of new services and ministries.
