About Us

Who we are

As God’s people, we wholeheartedly believe that salvation is found in Jesus Christ. This conviction drives our steadfast commitment to worship in Spirit and Truth and to serve with sincerity of heart. Our passionate mission is to establish God’s Kingdom throughout the earth, spreading His love, truth, and transformative power to every corner of the world. Rooted in our faith in Jesus, we are dedicated to helping people encounter Him, nurturing their faith, and empowering them to make a positive impact in their communities

Again, I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 18:19 (KJV)

Mission

Embedded within the very fabric of our being and our transformed spiritual nature, we are summoned to engage in all aspects of life — eating, drinking, speaking, thinking, and living — for the magnification of God's glory. Our unwavering commitment to the One True God is expressed through various avenues such as preaching, teaching, singing, praying, and participating in the sacred sacraments of baptism and communion. These sacred acts of service serve as constant reminders of the gospel’s profound impact on our lives and our deep connection to God, reinforcing His purposeful call upon each of us. As we live out this mission, we seek to embody His love and truth in every action, word, and thought, in all that we do for His kingdom.

The Kingdom Community

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another”

At Bethlehem United Church, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant community where discipleship flourishes. Rooted in the Christian faith, we believe in the importance of connectedness — with God and with one another. Our mission is to create a space where believers are encouraged to grow spiritually, building meaningful relationships that extend beyond the walls of our local church. We aim to unite individuals in a shared purpose of faith, reaching out to our community and the world as we walk together in the teachings of Jesus Christ, fulfilling the Great Commission to spread His love and message of salvation.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Our Core Values

The scriptures declare, "…he that winneth souls is wise…" (Proverbs 11:30)

It is, therefore, the responsibility of those "standing in the gap" to implement strategies and provide opportunities for souls to be won to the Kingdom of God. Such a one was and is Bishop Dorant W. Thompson.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." (Proverbs 29:18)

To be an effective minister and to lead a fruitful ministry, it is essential to see, by faith, through the eyes of God. Failing to do so will result in the loss of valuable souls, and a ministry that does not fulfill its God-given purpose.

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word, serving as the ultimate guide for faith, life, and salvation.

We believe in the Godhead and the Oneness of the Godhead. We affirm that there is only one God, manifested as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, who embodies the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form, is the Eternal Father made visible.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death, and His bodily resurrection.

We believe in Original Sin and the Fall of Man. For the salvation of sinful humanity, one must be born again, which includes the predestination and election of saints, genuine repentance, water baptism, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the observance of Communion (The Lord’s Supper) as a sacrament, and in the practice of Foot Washing as an ordinance.

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with speaking in tongues as the evidence of that baptism.

We believe in justification by faith, repentance, and holy living through sanctification.

We believe in Divine Healing.

We believe in the Second Coming of Christ and His Millennial Reign.

We believe in the Final Judgment and the creation of a New Heaven and a New Earth.

We believe in the Resurrection of the Dead, the Rapture of the Church, and the personal return of Jesus Christ for His Church.

We believe in Holiness and the sanctification of each individual who has experienced the transforming power of the cross. This is reflected in modesty in adornment, limited use of ornamental jewelry, and the development of godly character and attitudes that reflect the nature of a child of God.

Doctrinal Position

We believe in the fundamental principle of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you, which also ye have received and wherein ye stand. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (I Corinthians 15:14)

We believe in repentance, baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and being filled with the Holy Ghost with scriptural evidence of speaking in tongues: “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance….Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Act 2:4,38)

We believe in living a sober, righteous, and holy life so that at the rapture we will be caught away with Christ into the heavens: Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;….. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:…Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; … I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (Titus 2:12; Heb 12:14; Titus 2:13; Rom 12:1)
